DFE is an acronym for Digital Front End. It basically refers to the brains of a digital printing system. The DFE is able to load files from various sources on a network and process them in order to be printed on digital equipment, whether it be a small desktop printer or a large digital press. The DFE, in most cases, must be a powerful unit in order to accept and process files for variable data applications and to pull information from a database for personalized documents.

Digital Presses are Equipped with Powerful Digital Front Ends
Many of the largest computer manufacturers continue to develop faster, more efficient servers that are built solely for use in the print industry: specifically for variable data printing on digital presses. The ever-improving technology allows not only the capability of producing a unique document with every impression printed by a digital press, but also allows the equipment to produce variable applications at a faster rate than has ever been accomplished before.
The DFE provides consistency in color, quality, and accuracy, assuring print providers and customers that projects will be of the highest standards at all times. This creates increased customer confidence and satisfaction and increased profits for printing enterprises that can demand higher prices for the quality and accuracy that their digital print system consistently achieves. |
