Collating or sorting is the process of assembling the components of a digital print application into the correct order. There are many digital printing devices that have the capability of collating pages automatically. This feature may be available as an option or it may be a standard feature with some models.

Another option for collating is with the use of off-line equipment. Manual collating can be used for gathering signatures for very small quantity print projects.
