Active RFID Tag

A type of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag containing a battery that powers the microchip and allows it to transmit a signal, via radio waves, to the RFID reader. RFID is a technology in which the tag, or transponder, is attached to a variety of goods and equipment in order to provide rapid identification, inventory management, and/or numerous security features. Active RFID tags are often incorporated with digitally printed applications such as smart labels and security cards.
