RFID Reader
|
|
A device that communicates with an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) transponder via radio waves. The transponder, also known as an RFID tag, is basically a microchip connected to an antenna. When the transponder is attached to a product, the RFID reader is able to record the information that has been encoded on the transponder. An RFID reader can receive data from as many as 1,000 RFID tags per second. The reader can intercept the signal even if the RFID tag is in contact with rain, fog, snow, or dirt and grime. This provides a distinct advantage over optically read items, such as barcodes, which would be useless under similar conditions.
