Just-in-Time
|
|
A term referencing performance of various production tasks at the time in which they are actually needed. In the printing industry, where this is an often heard expression, just-in-time (JIT) relates specifically to producing print jobs quickly, and only when they are needed, rather than producing jobs in advance and storing them to be pulled when requested at a later time. Just-in-time is rarely referred to in conjunction with digital printing. A similar process known as Print-on-Demand (POD) is the term more often associated with digitally printed applications.
