JIT
|
|
The initials for “Just-in-Time.” JIT refers to performing various production tasks at the time in which they are actually needed. In the printing industry, where this is an often heard expression, JIT relates specifically to producing print jobs quickly, and only when they are needed, rather than producing jobs in advance and storing them to be pulled when requested at a later time. JIT is rarely referred to in conjunction with digital printing. A similar process known as Print-on-Demand (POD) is the term more often associated with digitally printed applications.
