Analog
|
|
A designation for a type of system or specific device in which values are represented as continuous, but variable. For example, the signal transmitted for conventional land-line telephones is an analog signal that is continuous, but is modulated, transforming sound vibrations into similarly shaped electrical impulses. The opposite of analog is digital in which devices use a system that operates with data that is not continuous and is based on only two values: 1 and 0, representing on and off or yes and no.
