Thermal CTP
|
|
A digital platemaking technology that uses lasers of infrared wavelengths for imaging printing plates. The infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum has a wide range of wavelength measurements: 750 nm up to 1 mm. Most of the infrared lasers used for imaging printing plates, however, range between 800 and 1100 nm. Among the most used thermal lasers for offset printing computer-to-plate are the thermal diode laser bar and the thermal diode single stripe laser, both of which operate at about 830 nm. For flexographic CTP, thermal lasers commonly operate at 830 nm or 1064 nm.
