Slow Emulsion
Refers to plate emulsion (a coating sensitive to a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum) that requires large quantities of energy for proper exposure. A thermal plate used for computer-to-plate systems is an example of a plate with a slow emulsion. The number of plates that can be imaged per hour on one CTP device is less than other CTP technologies because of the increased imaging time.
