Processless CTP Plate
A type of plate used for computer-to-plate systems that does not require any type of processing after imaging. The plate has several advantages over a chemically processed plate. A processless CTP plate system requires a lower initial investment, the plate is daylight safe, and because the system requires fewer steps than a chemically processed CTP plate system, using a processless plate is less labor intensive. Less equipment is necessary because there is no need for large processing units. There are no chemicals needed for development of the plate so there are no environmental issues concerning proper disposal of chemicals, (which can be expensive). At the press, using a processless plate usually requires only some minimal adjustments in balancing the fountain solution. The print quality with a processless plate is often equal to that of a chemically processed CTP plate. All of these advantages add up to a significant long term cost savings; a process that is environmentally friendly; and a system that is easy and safe to use.
