Parchment Paper
A type of paper with a parchment finish. Parchment is used to provide a look of importance to documents, such as diplomas or award certificates. It provides authenticity to reproductions of historic documents. The parchment effect is achieved with sulfuric acid that is washed over the paper and is then neutralized quickly to stop the affects of the acid on the paper. The process melts the outer paper fibers, which fill the voids in the remaining areas of the paper. Parchment paper is very durable and it is grease resistant.
