A type of coated paper that has a flat appearance yet works in much the same manner as glossy paper in reducing ink absorption in the paper and providing good contrast and color definition on the printed piece. A matte finish is a good choice for high quality print applications that include large quantities of text because the flat finish makes the text easy to read yet it allows images and graphics to appear vibrant.
