The brains of a digital printing system. The Digital Front End, or DFE, is able to load files from various network sources and process the files so they can be output on digital equipment, whether it be a small desktop printer or a large digital press. The Digital Front End, in most cases, must be a powerful unit in order to accept and process files for variable data applications and to pull information from a database for personalized documents. The Digital Front End provides consistency in color, quality, and accuracy, assuring print providers and customers that projects will be of the highest standards at all times.
