DFE
The initials for “Digital Front End,” which refers to the brains of a digital printing system. The DFE is able to load files from various network sources and process the files so they can be output on digital equipment, whether it be a small desktop printer or a large digital press. The DFE, in most cases, must be a powerful unit in order to accept and process files for variable data applications and to pull information from a database for personalized documents. The DFE provides consistency in color, quality, and accuracy, assuring print providers and customers that projects will be of the highest standards at all times.
